The Myth and Delusion of American Capitalism

A major delusion that virtually every American suffers from is the delusion that America is not a socialist country, but a capitalistic, free enterprise society. 

Nothing could be further from the truth. 

The fact is that our country is totally dependent upon Socialism ...

… a country in which every American, whether they be unemployed with their homes in foreclosure, or a billionaire like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, is totally dependent on socialistic and social services provided by the government every day, and almost every hour of their lives.

America has become a unique blend of capitalistic free enterprise and socialism, in which the free enterprise capitalism is totally dependent upon the socialism for it to even exist, let alone thrive. 

Capitalism and Socialism Defined

Socialism is defined as a country where institutions, goods and services are provided by entities that are government financed, controlled and run, where the government provides financing, and as a result, sets the rules on how they are able to function and supply their goods and services.

Bottom line, Capitalism means free and open competition and freedom of choice. 

Government subsidies and non-profit organizations

Government subsidies are just one of the ways government funds provides financing, as well as controls, rules and regulations.

Being tax-free is another form of government financing.  All non-profit organizations in which the government, instead of taking the non-profit organizations monies as taxes and then giving them back, simply finances them by letting them keep their money and not have to give a portion of it to the government, i.e., taxes - and of course impose a whole set of rules and regulations that control whether they can get or have the non-profit tax exempt status. 

Every American is totally dependent upon our new form of Capitalistic Socialism

Not only is America a socialist country, totally dependent upon socialism, but every American is. 

We can’t begin our day without benefiting from socialism, starting with our morning coffee and the cream and sugar we put in it, all subsidized (socialism), to our breakfast cereal, bacon and eggs we also enjoy because of government subsidies. 

The massive role Socialism plays in our lives every day

Leaving the driveway and turning onto the public street is another benefit of socialism, for the streets are financed and controlled by one form of government or another – local, state or federal – as are all of our highways, freeways, toll roads, bridges, railways, subways, and all public transportation. 

Every time you see a stop sign or a stoplight, you can see them as benefits of our socialism, for the entire traffic system, all the laws, rules and regulations are government financed and controlled. 

Our churches, synagogues and mosques are Socialistic

Even our religion exists because of our unique form of socialism.  Every church, synagogue, mosque – every religious organization that enjoys a tax exempt status – is being financed by the government who then sets down strict rules and controls that the religion must follow or lose the governments financing in the way of tax exempt status. 

Dozens of other ways Socialism impacts our lives daily

Here are dozens of other ways that every American benefits from our government’s financing – other forms of socialism all of which Americans not only willingly but gladly accept, and would never give up or be without. 

Schools – all public schools, from pre-school through community colleges, universities and all the public teachers and staff.

Traffic – all traffic including traffic police, and traffic court, including our sewer system and snow plows that clear our roads and highways

Courts – all courts of every kind, including the Supreme Court

Prosecutors – all prosecutors, district attorneys, and public defenders

Police – all police departments, local, state and federal

Fire – all fire departments, including paramedics, and 911

Hospitals – most hospitals and emergency rooms, especially non-profit hospitals

Public libraries

Our garbage and trash collection service

Our Military is totally socialistic.   The Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard, and Reserve units.  Our entire national defense, starting with the Pentagon is all socialistic. 

The FBI

The CIA

Department of  Defense and National Security – not only our national defense but the entire State Department, human resources department, and all the departments of the Cabinet

The entire Congress and their staffs

The White House and its staff

All State Legislatures and Governor’s office

All local legislative branches - City Councils and the Mayor’s office

All Taxes  - local, state and federal are socialistic

All Parks – local, state and national

All Farm Subsidies (which were to benefit little farmers but have been sucked up by the giant corporate farms)

Medicare, Medicaid – and which recipient would give it up?

Social Security

Disability

Unemployment – state, local and federal

The SEC, the FDA, the FTA are all socialistic

The FDIC which saves the bank accounts of Americans when the banks fail. 

All of the transportation safety boards for airlines, railroads and ships – including all of our airports, air controllers, train depots and subway stations

The Post Office – and how in the world would the FedX’s and UPS’s survive if they had to deliver tens of millions of letters everywhere in America?

The YMCA, YWCA, Boys Club, Girls Club

Our giant sports stadiums and arenas who exist only because of gigantic tax subsidies (socialism)

American sports – football, basketball, baseball, hockey would not exist without the owners receiving lush tax breaks

Every legitimate consumer protection group, like Public Citizen, that really saves America from fraud and deceit is tax exempt

Non-profit HMOs are already socialist.

… and these are just some of the dozens more of the services every American enjoys because of our unique form of government financing. 

America and American capitalism is already thoroughly socialistic, i.e., government financed. 

Without our unique form of Socialism neither America, nor American capitalism would exist.

Our unique form of Socialism is essential to everything in America’s culture, and to American free enterprise. 

Socialism, government financed and controlled entities, are the ball bearing upon which America survives, and without which America – and no American – could live. 

Take away our unique form of capitalism/socialism – all of these indispensable benefits and services would disappear from our lives and without them we would be totally destroyed as a capitalistic free market system. 

That America is not socialist but a capitalistic free enterprise nation is a delusion we can no longer afford to deceive ourselves with. 

Ask yourself – where would you be without these socialized services?

We are at best a Socialistic Capitalism –

whether we are aware of it or not!
